| Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. | Zücke Speer und Streitaxt wider meine Verfolger! | Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them. | Es sollen sich schämen und zum Spott werden, die mir nach dem Leben trachten; es sollen zurückweichen und zuschanden werden, die mein Unglück wollen. | (34:4) confundantur et revereantur qui quaerunt animam meam convertantur retrorsum et confundantur qui cogitant malum mihi |
| Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. | Sie sollen werden wie Spreu vor dem Winde, und der Engel des HERRN stoße sie weg. | (34:5) fiant sicut pulvis ante faciem venti et angelus Domini inpellat |
| For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. | Ihr Weg soll finster und schlüpfrig werden, und der Engel des HERRN verfolge sie. | (34:6) sit via eorum tenebrae et lubricum et angelus Domini persequatur eos |
| Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall. | Denn ohne Grund haben sie mir ihr Netz gestellt, ohne Grund mir eine Grube gegraben. | (34:7) quia frustra absconderunt mihi insidias retis sui sine causa foderunt animae meae |
| And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. | Unversehens soll ihn Unheil überfallen; sein Netz, das er gestellt hat, fange ihn selber, zum eigenen Unheil stürze er hinein. | (34:8) veniat ei calamitas quam ignorat et rete suum quod abscondit conprehendat eum et cadat in laqueum |
| All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? | Aber meine Seele soll sich freuen des HERRN und fröhlich sein über seine Hilfe. | (34:9) anima autem mea exultabit in Domino et laetabitur in salute sua |
| False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. | Alle meine Gebeine sollen sagen: HERR, wer ist dir gleich? Der du den Elenden rettest vor dem, der ihm zu stark ist, und den Elenden und Armen vor seinen Räubern. | (34:10) omnia ossa mea dicent Domine quis similis tui eruens inopem a validiore et pauperem et mendicum a violento |
| They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. | Es treten falsche Zeugen auf; sie fordern von mir, wovon ich nichts weiß. | (34:11) surgentes testes iniqui quae nesciebam interrogabant me |
| But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. | Sie vergelten mir Gutes mit Bösem, um mich in Herzeleid zu bringen. | (34:12) reddebant mihi mala pro bono sterilitatem animae meae |
| I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. | Ich aber zog einen Sack an, wenn sie krank waren, tat mir wehe mit Fasten und betete immer wieder von Herzen. | (34:13) ego autem cum infirmarer ab eis induebar cilicio humiliabam in ieiunio animam meam et oratio mea ad sinum meum revertetur |
| But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: | Als wäre es mein Freund und Bruder, so ging ich einher; wie einer Leid trägt über seine Mutter, so beugte ich mich in Trauer. | (34:14) quasi ad amicum quasi ad fratrem meum sic ambulabam quasi lugens mater tristis incurvabar |
| With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. | Sie aber freuen sich, wenn ich wanke, und rotten sich zusammen; sie rotten sich heimlich zum Schlag wider mich, sie lästern und hören nicht auf. | (34:15) et in infirmitate mea laetabantur et congregabantur collecti sunt adversum me percutientes et nesciebam |
| Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. | Sie lästern und spotten immerfort und knirschen wider mich mit ihren Zähnen. | (34:16) scindentes et non tacentes in simulatione verborum fictorum frendebant contra me dentibus suis |
| I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. | Herr, wie lange willst du zusehen? Errette doch meine Seele vor ihrem Unheil, mein Leben vor den jungen Löwen! | (34:17) Domine quanta aspicies converte animam meam a calamitatibus suis a leonibus solitariam meam |
| Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. | Ich will dir danken in großer Gemeinde; unter vielem Volk will ich dich rühmen. | (34:18) confitebor tibi in ecclesia grandi in populo forti laudabo te |
| For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. | Laß sich nicht über mich freuen, die mir zu Unrecht feind sind; laß nicht mit den Augen spotten, die mich ohne Grund hassen! | (34:19) non laetentur super me inimici mei mendaces odientes me frustra coniventes oculo |
| Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. | Denn sie reden nicht, was zum Frieden dient, und ersinnen falsche Anklagen wider die Stillen im Lande. | (34:20) non enim pacem loquuntur sed in rapina terrae verba fraudulenta concinnant |
| This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me. | Sie sperren das Maul weit auf wider mich und sprechen: «Da, da, wir haben es gesehen!» | (34:21) et dilataverunt super me os suum dixerunt va va vidit oculus noster |
| Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord. | HERR, du hast es gesehen, schweige nicht; Herr, sei nicht ferne von mir! | (34:22) vidisti Domine ne taceas Domine ne elongeris a me |
| Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. | Wache auf, werde wach, mir Recht zu schaffen und meine Sache zu führen, mein Gott und Herr! | (34:23) consurge et evigila in iudicium meum Deus meus et Domine in causam meam |
| Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. | HERR, mein Gott, verhilf mir zum Recht nach deiner Gerechtigkeit, daß sie sich nicht über mich freuen. | (34:24) iudica me secundum iustitiam meam Domine Deus meus et ne insultent mihi |
| Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. | Laß sie nicht sagen in ihrem Herzen: «Da, da! das wollten wir.» Laß sie nicht sagen: «Wir haben ihn verschlungen.» | (34:25) ne dicant in corde suo va va va animae nostrae ne dicant absorbuimus eum |
| Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. | Sie sollen sich schämen und zuschanden werden, alle die sich meines Unglücks freuen; sie sollen in Schmach und Schande sich kleiden, die sich wider mich rühmen. | (34:26) confundantur et revereantur pariter qui laetantur in adflictione mea induantur confusione et verecundia qui magnificantur super me |
| And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. | Jubeln und freuen sollen sich, die mir gönnen, daß ich recht behalte, und immer sagen: Der HERR sei hoch gelobt, der seinem Knecht so wohl will! | (34:27) laudent et laetentur qui volunt iustitiam meam et dicant semper magnificetur Dominus qui vult pacem servi sui |
| Und meine Zunge soll reden von deiner Gerechtigkeit und dich täglich preisen. | (34:28) et lingua mea meditabitur iustitiam tuam tota die laudem tuam |
