| The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. | Es umfingen mich des Todes Bande, und die Fluten des Verderbens erschreckten mich. | (17:5) circumdederunt me funes mortis et torrentes diabuli terruerunt me |
| In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. | Des Totenreichs Bande umfingen mich, und des Todes Stricke überwältigten mich. | (17:6) funes inferi circumdederunt me praevenerunt me laquei mortis |
| Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. | Als mir angst war, rief ich den HERRN an und schrie zu meinem Gott. Da erhörte er meine Stimme von seinem Tempel, und mein Schreien kam vor ihn zu seinen Ohren. | (17:7) in tribulatione mea invocabo Dominum et ad Deum meum clamabo exaudiet de templo suo vocem meam et clamor meus ante faciem eius veniet in aures eius |
| There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. | Die Erde bebte und wankte, und die Grundfesten der Berge bewegten sich und bebten, da er zornig war. | (17:8) commota est et contremuit terra et fundamenta montium concussa sunt et conquassata quoniam iratus est |
| He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. | Rauch stieg auf von seiner Nase und verzehrend Feuer aus seinem Munde; Flammen sprühten von ihm aus. | (17:9) ascendit fumus de furore eius et ignis ex ore eius devorans carbones incensi sunt ab eo |
| And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind. | Er neigte den Himmel und fuhr herab, und Dunkel war unter seinen Füßen. | (17:10) inclinavit caelos et descendit et caligo sub pedibus eius |
| He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. | Und er fuhr auf dem Cherub und flog daher, er schwebte auf den Fittichen des Windes. | (17:11) et ascendit super cherub et volavit super pinnas venti |
| At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. | Er machte Finsternis ringsum zu seinem Zelt; in schwarzen, dicken Wolken war er verborgen. | (17:12) posuit tenebras latibulum suum in circuitu eius tabernaculum eius tenebrosas aquas in nubibus aetheris |
| The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. | Aus dem Glanz vor ihm zogen seine Wolken dahin mit Hagel und Blitzen. | (17:13) prae fulgore in conspectu eius nubes transierunt grando et carbones ignis |
| Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. | Der HERR donnerte im Himmel, und der Höchste ließ seine Stimme erschallen mit Hagel und Blitzen. | (17:14) et intonuit de caelo Dominus et Altissimus dedit vocem suam grandinem et carbones ignis |
| Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. | Er schoß seine Pfeile und streute sie aus, sandte Blitze in Menge und jagte sie dahin. | (17:15) et emisit sagittas suas et dissipavit eos fulgora multiplicavit et conturbavit illos |
| He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. | Da sah man die Tiefen der Wasser, und des Erdbodens Grund ward aufgedeckt vor deinem Schelten, HERR, vor dem Odem und Schnauben deines Zornes. | (17:16) et apparuerunt effusiones aquarum et revelata sunt fundamenta orbis ab increpatione tua Domine ab inspiratione spiritus furoris tui |
| He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. | Er streckte seine Hand aus von der Höhe und faßte mich und zog mich aus großen Wassern. | (17:17) misit de alto et accepit me extraxit me de aquis multis |
| They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. | Er errettete mich von meinen starken Feinden, von meinen Hassern, die mir zu mächtig waren; | (17:18) liberavit me de inimicis meis potentissimis et de his qui oderant me quoniam robustiores me erant |
| He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. | sie überwältigten mich zur Zeit meines Unglücks; aber der HERR ward meine Zuversicht. | (17:19) praevenerunt me in die adflictionis meae et factus est Dominus firmamentum meum |
| The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. | Er führte mich hinaus ins Weite, er riß mich heraus; denn er hatte Lust zu mir. | (17:20) et eduxit me in latitudinem liberavit me quia placuit ei |
| For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. | Der HERR tut wohl an mir nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, er vergilt mir nach der Reinheit meiner Hände. | (17:21) retribuit mihi Dominus secundum iustitiam meam et secundum munditiam manuum mearum reddidit mihi |
| For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. | Denn ich halte die Wege des HERRN und bin nicht gottlos wider meinen Gott. | (17:22) quia custodivi vias Domini et non egi impie a Deo meo |
| I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity. | Denn alle seine Rechte hab ich vor Augen, und seine Gebote werfe ich nicht von mir, | (17:23) omnia enim iudicia eius in conspectu meo et praecepta eius non amovi a me |
| Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. | sondern ich bin ohne Tadel vor ihm und hüte mich vor Schuld. | (17:24) et fui inmaculatus cum eo et custodivi me ab iniquitate mea |
| With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; | Darum vergilt mir der HERR nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, nach der Reinheit meiner Hände vor seinen Augen. | (17:25) et restituit Dominus mihi secundum iustitiam meam et secundum munditiam manuum mearum in conspectu oculorum eius |
| With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward. | Gegen die Heiligen bist du heilig, und gegen die Treuen bist du treu, | (17:26) cum sancto sanctus eris cum viro innocente innocenter ages |
| For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. | gegen die Reinen bist du rein, und gegen die Verkehrten bist du verkehrt. | (17:27) cum electo electus eris et cum perverso pervertes |
| For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. | Denn du hilfst dem elenden Volk, aber stolze Augen erniedrigst du. | (17:28) quia tu populum pauperem salvabis et oculos excelsos humiliabis |
| For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. | Ja, du machst hell meine Leuchte, der HERR, mein Gott, macht meine Finsternis licht. | (17:29) quia tu inluminabis lucernam meam Domine Deus meus inlustrabis tenebras meas |
| As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. | Denn mit dir kann ich Kriegsvolk zerschlagen und mit meinem Gott über Mauern springen. | (17:30) in te enim curram accinctus et in Deo meo transiliam murum |
| For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? | Gottes Wege sind vollkommen, die Worte des HERRN sind durchläutert. Er ist ein Schild allen, die ihm vertrauen. | (17:31) Deus inmaculata via eius eloquium Domini igne examinatum scutum est omnium sperantium in se |
| It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. | Denn wer ist Gott, wenn nicht der HERR, oder ein Fels, wenn nicht unser Gott? | (17:32) quis est deus praeter Dominum et quis fortis praeter Deum nostrum |
| He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places. | Gott rüstet mich mit Kraft und macht meine Wege ohne Tadel. | (17:33) Deus qui accingit me fortitudine et posuit inmaculatam viam meam |
| He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. | Er macht meine Füße gleich den Hirschen und stellt mich auf meine Höhen. | (17:34) coaequans pedes meos cervis et super excelsa statuens me |
| Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. | Er lehrt meine Hände streiten und meinen Arm den ehernen Bogen spannen. | (17:35) docens manus meas ad proelium et conponens quasi arcum aereum brachia mea |
| Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip. | Du gibst mir den Schild deines Heils, und deine Rechte stärkt mich, und deine Huld macht mich groß. | (17:36) dedisti mihi clipeum salutis tuae et dextera tua confortavit me et mansuetudo tua multiplicavit me |
| I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed. | Du gibst meinen Schritten weiten Raum, daß meine Knöchel nicht wanken. | (17:37) dilatabis gressus meos subtus me et non deficient tali mei |
| I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet. | Ich will meinen Feinden nachjagen und sie ergreifen und nicht umkehren, bis ich sie umgebracht habe. | (17:38) persequar inimicos meos et adprehendam et non revertar donec consumam eos |
| For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. | Ich will sie zerschmettern, daß sie nicht mehr aufstehen können; sie müssen unter meine Füße fallen. | (17:39) caedam eos et non poterunt surgere cadent sub pedibus meis |
| Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me. | Du rüstest mich mit Stärke zum Streit; du wirfst unter mich, die sich gegen mich erheben. | (17:40) accinxisti me fortitudine ad proelium incurvabis resistentes mihi sub me |
| They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not. | Du treibst meine Feinde in die Flucht, daß ich vernichte, die mich hassen. | (17:41) inimicorum meorum dedisti mihi dorsum et odientes me disperdidisti |
| Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets. | Sie rufen – aber da ist kein Helfer – zum HERRN, aber er antwortet ihnen nicht. | (17:42) clamabunt et non erit qui salvet ad Dominum et non exaudiet eos |
| Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me. | Ich will sie zerstoßen zu Staub vor dem Winde, ich werfe sie weg wie Unrat auf die Gassen. | (17:43) delebo eos ut pulverem ante faciem venti ut lutum platearum proiciam eos |
| As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. | Du hilfst mir aus dem Streit des Volkes und machst mich zum Haupt über Heiden; ein Volk, das ich nicht kannte, dient mir. | (17:44) salvabis me a contradictionibus populi pones me in caput gentium |
| The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places. | Es gehorcht mir mit gehorsamen Ohren; Söhne der Fremde müssen mir huldigen. | (17:45) populus quem ignoravi serviet mihi auditione auris oboediet mihi |
| The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. | Die Söhne der Fremde verschmachten und kommen mit Zittern aus ihren Burgen. | (17:46) filii alieni mentientur mihi filii alieni defluent et contrahentur in angustiis suis |
| It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me. | Der HERR lebt! Gelobt sei mein Fels! Der Gott meines Heils sei hoch erhoben, | (17:47) vivit Dominus et benedictus Deus meus et exaltabitur Deus salutis meae |
| He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. | der Gott, der mir Vergeltung schafft und zwingt die Völker unter mich, | (17:48) Deus qui das vindictas mihi et congregas populos sub me qui servas me ab inimicis meis |
| Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name. | der mich errettet von meinen Feinden. Du erhöhst mich über die, die sich gegen mich erheben; du hilfst mir von den Frevlern. | (17:49) et a resistentibus mihi elevas me a viro iniquo libera me |
| Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore. | Darum will ich dir danken, HERR, unter den Heiden und deinem Namen lobsingen, | (17:50) propterea confitebor tibi in gentibus Domine et nomini tuo cantabo |
| der seinem Könige großes Heil gibt und Gnade erweist seinem Gesalbten, David, und seinem Hause ewiglich. | (17:51) magnificanti salutes regis sui et facienti misericordiam christo suo David et semini eius usque in aeternum |
